Region
Lazy rolling farmlands, lots of forests and leisure lakes. There's a farmers market for every day of the week in the Gers, and the summer is interspersed with various festivals. When there's not an official festival you can be sure the locals are inventing some excuse for festivities in the various communes. A local diet rich in duck, and foie-gras, and the folks of the Gers have the longest life-expectancy in France, there's a secret in there somewhere! People visit the Gers to relax, maybe be brave and go for a cycle, go horse-riding, or partake in some sort of water sport. A day-out might comprise a visit down to the Pyrenées, a visit across the border for some Spanish tapas or catching the tele-pherique to the pic de Midi.
